SOHUM YOUTH FASHION SHOW

Upcycled Youth Fashion Show | Models & Designers Wanted

The SoHum Youth Fashion Show is a free, creative, beginner-friendly event designed to inspire young people to express themselves through fashion, sustainability, and community.

We’re inviting youth under 25 to participate as models and/or designers in an upcoming upcycled fashion show happening on May 9 at Surf Point Coffee House. No experience is needed — just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to try something new.

This show is all about:

🌱 Upcycling & sustainability

🎨 Creative freedom & self-expression

💛 Building confidence in a supportive environment

🤝 Community connection

Leading up to the show, there will be workshops around Southern Humboldt, giving participants a chance to learn, create, and collaborate before stepping onto the runway.

Participation is completely free, and the event is organized and supported by the Lost Coast Tourism Association. The goal is simple: give young people a platform to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Want to be involved?

If you’re interested in participating — or just want to learn more — reach out directly to Catherine, the event organizer.

📱 Text Catherine: (707) 223-5241

She’s happy to answer questions, share workshop details, and help you find your place in the show.

✨ This is about creativity, confidence, and having fun. Everyone is welcome.

SECOND SUNDAYS AT SHELTER COVE GOLF LINKS

Golf, Ocean Views & Local Favorites on the Lost Coast

Second Sundays at Shelter Cove Golf Links is a relaxed new way to experience one of the most unique golf courses on the Lost Coast.

Perched above the Pacific with sweeping ocean views and a layout unlike anywhere else in California, Shelter Cove Golf Links offers a golf experience that feels equal parts scenic, adventurous, and wonderfully unhurried. The 9-hole course even sits alongside the local airstrip, so don’t be surprised if a small plane lands while you’re lining up your shot. Around here, that’s just part of the charm.

Each Second Sunday, Shelter Cove Adventure Rentals will be out on the course with their mobile refreshment cart serving Gyppo Ale Mill canned beer, sparkling water, hop water, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks from Surf Point Coffee House. It’s designed to keep golfers fueled while supporting the local businesses that help make the Lost Coast feel so special.

A few local favorites to explore while you’re here:

⛳ Gyppo Ale Mill sits directly on the 9th hole and next door to the Shelter Cove Campground — the perfect stop before, during, or after your round for burgers, beer, and outdoor seating.

☕ Surf Point Coffee House offers coffee, quick bites, and ocean views along Surf Point Road in a relaxed coastal setting.

🚲 Shelter Cove Adventure Rentals provides golf cart rentals for the course along with e-bikes, surfboards, paddleboards, and wetsuits for exploring the Lost Coast beyond the fairways.

We highly recommend reserving your golf cart ahead of time through Shelter Cove Adventure Rentals so you can cruise the course at your own pace and make a full day of it.

Whether you’re golfing, grabbing a drink, or simply looking for an excuse to spend a Sunday outside with friends, Second Sundays is all about slowing down and experiencing the Lost Coast a little differently.

✨ Come play a round, support local, and enjoy one of the most scenic Sundays Northern California has to offer.

Seaside Soapbox Derby

Community Roll Call
October 2026 (Date TBD)
Location: Shelter Cove, CA

Ready… set… build. The Lost Coast Tourism Association is laying the foundation for a Seaside Soapbox Derby — a community-driven, coast-style race event we hope to bring to Shelter Cove this October.

This is the early planning stage, and we’re doing it the best way possible: with the community. If you’ve ever wanted to build a soapbox car, help organize a fun local event, volunteer, sponsor, or bring your creativity to something unforgettable, this is your moment.

Whether you’re a builder, a promoter, a problem-solver, or someone who just loves a good spectacle, we want to hear from you. Let’s make something that feels uniquely Lost Coast: playful, collaborative, and full of local pride.

What to Expect (If We Get the Community On Board)

A gravity-powered soapbox derby course in Shelter Cove
All ages welcome — fun, friendly competition
Creative builds + themed cars encouraged
Volunteer and sponsor opportunities
A community event that brings locals and visitors together

This event will only happen if we build it together — and we’re excited to see who’s in.
